The local American Legion Stuart Post, named Harold Johns American Legion Post 62, was established June 1, 1919 to benefit veterans and families.

Alvin J. Domroe
Alvin Joel Domroe 1924-2016 Born September 2, 1924 in The Bronx, New York, was a life member of the American Legion. During World War II he served in the 8th Air Force, US Army Air Corps. Part of this service was spent as a German POW. Upon his passing, Alvin's Estate established Annual Scholarships for the Children of Local Veterans through Post 62.
